What is Grilled Cheese Summer?

Grilled Cheese Summer is a limited-time menu at Clementine, our family-owned bakery and café in West Los Angeles. It's ten fan-favorite grilled cheese sandwiches pulled from twenty-five years of feeding this city, each one named for a stretch of California coast — plus a build-your-own, if none of the ten is quite the sandwich you had in mind.

When is the Grilled Cheese Summer menu available?

The Grilled Cheese Summer menu is available at Clementine beginning Tuesday, July 14th, and running through the end of August. Sandwiches are made to order any day we're open.

What kinds of grilled cheese are on the menu?

Ten of them, ranging from a plain yellow cheddar on country white to shrimp in a sea of melted cheese with salsa morita and avocado. There's a turkey meatball melt, a Monte Cristo, a tuna melt, a chili-and-Fritos, grilled peaches with burrata, and goat gouda with dates and bacon. Three are vegetarian. How much do the grilled cheese sandwiches cost?

Grilled Cheese Summer sandwiches range from $11.50 to $20.95, with most landing between $17 and $21. Build-your-own starts at $11.50.

Can I build my own grilled cheese?

Yes, and this is where it gets dangerous. Start with the bread — white levain, rustic ciabatta, wholegrain, olive, old world sesame, or gluten-free (+$2). Then the cheese: yellow cheddar, white cheddar, gruyère, feta, mozzarella, Swiss or provolone. Then, if you want it, protein — smoked turkey, ham, roasted chicken, bacon or meaty chili. Then everything else: avocado, roasted cherry tomato, sun-dried tomato, arugula, spinach, tomato chutney, kalamata olives, caramelized onions, red onion, Mama Lil's, pickled jalapeños, cornichons, dijon, or the works. Do you have a gluten-free grilled cheese?

Yes. Gluten-free bread is one of the bread choices on our build-your-own grilled cheese (+$2), so you can build a gluten-free grilled cheese at Clementine any day we're open. Our kitchen isn't gluten-free, so we can't guarantee against cross-contact.

Are there vegetarian grilled cheese options?

Yes — three. The Santa Monica (yellow cheddar on country white), the Big Sur (smoked mozzarella, roasted cherry tomato and sweet garlic), and the Central Valley (grilled peaches, burrata and arugula). Or build your own and skip the protein.

Where can I get Clementine's grilled cheese?

Clementine is at 1751 Ensley Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90024, in Century City on the Westside. Grilled Cheese Summer sandwiches are available to eat in, to pick up, and for delivery.

Can I get my grilled cheese order delivered?

Of course. Just like any other front-of-house order, we deliver subject to minimums and zoning.

How is the grilled cheese served?

Hot and ready. We'd recommend eating it here to get the full experience — melted cheese does not improve in a car — but you're welcome to order it for take-out or delivery.

How far in advance do I need to order?

Not far at all. You can order grilled cheese any day we're open, and it takes about 20 minutes to arrive melty and ready.

Are these sandwiches available for catering?

No. These are a front-of-house menu, and because they're served hot they're not part of our catering menu. Clementine's corporate and event catering is available separately.
